Energy-efficient thermal insulation of a passive building

ECOROCK MAX seamless external wall thermal insulation system with a thickness 20 cm with additional wall insulation from the inside with ROCKTON boards of a thickness 10 cm. Insulation of the floor on the ground with STROPROCK boards with a thickness 10 + 8 cm.

The outer walls of the passive house were insulated from the outside with the seamless ECOROCK MAX thermal insulation system with a thickness of 20 cm. Additionally, from the inside, we used 10 cm of insulation made of ROCKTON boards mounted on a light frame. This way we got 30 cm warming.

The building was erected in such a way as to prevent excessive heating of the rooms in the summer. For a year 2002 The Passive House Institute allows the building to be placed among deciduous trees, what causes, that the leaves cover the glazing, while in winter, the lack of leaves allows access to the sun.

Components of the external wall insulation system ECOROCK MAX: ZK-ECOROCK adhesive mortar, Fasteners with a steel core: hammered WB-ECOROCK or screwed in WK-ECOROCK (depending on the type of substrate), ZZ-ECOROCK reinforcing mortar, reinforcing mesh SZ-ECOROCK, plaster primer PT-ECOROCK and mineral plaster BR-ECOROCK (lamb) or DR-ECOROCK (scratched). Vapor permeable silicone paints are available in the range 720 colors out of the system.

ECOROCK MAX – a complete thermal insulation system for external walls offered by ROCKWOOL. The manufacturer also provides professional technical advice at every stage of construction (book publications, training, instructional materials).

Fasrock Max insulation boards, thick 20 cm have a thermal conductivity coefficient of λd = 0.037 W / mK. Thanks to this for the part of the full partition (external wall) the heat transfer coefficient U = was achieved 0,114 W / m2K.

Application of adhesive mortar on Fasrock Max boards. We always install Fasrock Max panels, by applying a layer of greater elasticity to the substrate – the load-bearing layer of the wall. Therefore, the inscription with the name of the plate should always be visible from the outside during the assembly phase – and the adhesive mortar is applied to the surface without burnt inscription – which can be seen in the next photos. In this way, we eliminate the possibility of mistakes and ensure good adjustment of the thermal insulation boards to any possible unevenness of the substrate. Highly absorbent surfaces should be primed with a special primer, thus reducing their absorbency. In the case of a passive house, the tightness of the walls is a very important factor, therefore, before fixing the wool insulation, we cover the entire surface of the walls with adhesive mortar. Cement mortar is the best sealant for vertical joints. The first insulation boards are mounted on the plinth. In the case of a passive house, the insulation of the slab is integrated into the walls. Each subsequent layer of boards must be fixed with an offset to the layer placed in front of it – laying on the so-called. pass. We cut the insulation boards with a regular long knife – their processing does not require specialized tools. Properly installed insulation boards – staggered with burned inscriptions visible from the outside. Fastening the thermal insulation boards to the wall with fasteners is an important activity – at the corners of the building, the arrangement of connectors should be compacted. After fixing the thermal insulation boards, we put the reinforcing layer: reinforcing mortar with reinforcing mesh. The photo shows the window and door joinery installed in the outer face of the load-bearing layer of the wall. The warming layer should also overlap 3 cm on the window reveal. This is done in order to minimize linear thermal bridges. The entire building is already covered with reinforcing mortar. The prepared surface is primed and covered with mineral plaster.
The next stage is the application of a reinforcing layer with a reinforcing mesh. It increases resistance to mechanical damage. The plaster should be applied within one cycle on one wall. Do not take breaks. We also have to be careful about excessive sun exposure. The building is fitted with the ECOROCK MAX insulation system, after the plaster is dry, approx. 10 days, we can paint the walls in the color of your choice.
