Wooden elements – interior architecture in wood

When moving into new apartments, or when planning a conversion, a question always arises about the shape of the apartment. There are many design possibilities, which are largely determined by individual taste and own invention. A successful interior finish and a tailor-made device, and so “interior architecture” it starts with the walls, floor and ceiling. From the harmonious interaction of wall and ceiling veneers and floor covering, the atmosphere of the room depends to a large extent on the materials used, their structure and colors.
With many possibilities, which can be realized with different materials, the following pages show only one modern architecture made of simple wooden elements.
Only domestic types of softwood are used, which, when left in their natural state, give the rooms bright, warm light and which, thanks to their changing structure, effectively warm up large surfaces. The execution of works does not require extensive preliminary knowledge, nor special tools. Only a wealth of ideas and craftsmanship should work.
The work is divided into three successive stages: planning and preparation of works, covering the ceiling and / or walls and providing a floor covering.

Planning
Some rooms are too long, too wide or too tall. Others too bulky, badly split or just plain awkward. Profile wood coverings offer many design options, by emphasizing their directions through the properties of optical display or delimitation of individual parts of the room.
Take advantage of these opportunities and, after selecting the most appropriate solution, draw up a detailed wall covering plan, ceiling and floor. Only now is the material needed for purchase.

Wall preparations
Before starting work, make sure that the walls, ceilings and floors are completely dry, any residual mortar must be removed from the floor, in old buildings – also old skirting boards. A stable table must be set up in one corner, on which you can also saw.
