Rust removal devices

Needle rust remover for compressed air
This hand-held device resembles a drill, in which needle bundles are mounted instead of the drill chuck, attached slidably. After connecting the device to the compressor and turning it on, the moving needles are made to vibrate in the longitudinal direction under the action of compressed air. Quickly vibrating needle tips remove rust well, mortar residues, etc.. made of thick-walled steel elements, while thin-walled elements bend easily. For cleaning, instead of steel needles, an overlay with copper needles is used.

A high-performance device for sandblasting steel building elements.
The high-performance device for sandblasting steel elements of building structures consists of:

1) wysokowydajnej sprężarki (continuously pressurized capacity desired 6 bars at the wide jet nozzle 5-4-12,5 mm);

2) przewodu powietrznego łączącego sprężarkę z dmuchawą (desired inner diameter at least 30 mm, due to the resistance caused by air friction against the walls of the conduit);

3) dmuchawy ciśnieniowej z automatycznym urządzeniem napełniającym (when filling with abrasive, sandblasting must be interrupted each time);

4) stream cable (due to the friction of the abrasive material against the wall of the conduit, the inside diameter must be approx. 4 times the size of the jet nozzle orifice);

5) dyszy strumieniowej (for less surface wear it is desirable to liner the nozzle with boron carbide).

What are the advantages of nebula sandblasting compared to wet and dry sandblasting??
A relatively large amount of dust is generated during dry sandblasting. When wet sandblasting, dusting is significantly reduced, but the abrasive becomes a slime. This is detrimental to the course of the rust removal process. When sandblasting steel, Traces of corrosion appear on its moist surface after removing the rust.
In nebular sandblasting, the abrasive is surrounded by a thin layer of water, which eliminates dusting. Due to little water (20+-30 l/h) sandblasted surface is dry immediately after cleaning, thus preventing the formation of rust.

What are the technical possibilities to prevent heavy dusting during sandblasting??
Can be used instead of the usual dry sandblasting, using additional devices, wet grinding, nebula grinding or vacuum grinding, where the resulting dust is immediately extracted.

Numerical data characterizing guns used for sandblasting:
Sandblasting guns at working pressure 5 – 10 bars consume approx 250 l air per minute. They can use an abrasive with a grain size 0,24-0,7 mm.

Flame cleaning consists of proper firing and machine brushing with a rotating brush, embedded in an articulated-angle grinder or rotary grinder.
For flame cleaning, an acetylene / oxygen mixture is used, predominantly oxygen. Acetylene pressure should be in the range 0,5 -0,8 only (1 bar = 0,1 MPa), while the oxygen pressure 3-5 bars. The advantage of oxygen is necessary, otherwise, the surface of the element to be cleaned will be strongly sooty.
