Timber frame construction

How to set up? Wooden houses can be set up on a traditional foundation slab or a wooden ceiling with a void under the floor.

What layers of the partition?

A typical arrangement of floor layers above the sub-floor space - from above:
top finishing layer
plating plate. min. 22 mm, insulated from the ceiling structure
construction of the ceiling with the axial spacing of the beams 40-60 cm
thermal insulation thickness. min. 20cm –
windproofing
construction foil on the ground

What construction timber?
For the construction of the skeleton structure, coniferous wood should be used. The wood should be kiln dried and planed on four sides with rounded or chamfered longitudinal edges. Such wood does not require chemical impregnation..
The wood humidity should be: no more than 19 % – if the elements will be encapsulated, no more than 23 % – if the elements will be in the open air.
Wood under construction, due to weather conditions, can reach higher humidity, however, before closing the structural elements in the wall, by putting on vapor-insulation, the wood must not have a higher humidity than 19%.
The only element of the design, which is subject to impregnation are the foundations lying on the walls, foundations or baseplate.
What boards for the sheathing? For ceiling sheathing, walls and roof, board materials with moisture-resistant properties should be used, e.g.: wood-based panels, gypsum fiber boards. From wood-based panels for sheathing are suitable: OSB board / 3, MDF, V-100 board or waterproof plywood.
Formwork should not be used for the outer walls and roof sheathing, unless the boards are chamber dried to the humidity 19% and planed, tongue and groove joint.
To increase the acoustic insulation of the ceiling and to avoid the creaking effect of the floor, sheathing boards or floor boards must be insulated from the ceiling structure. Rubber pads can be used as insulation, polyethylene foam or felt.

What roof covering?
Any available roofing material can be used to cover the roof.
In this regard, it should be considered whether the covering requires or does not require a roof covering.
The coverings that do not require sheathing are:
■ ceramic tile
■ cement tile
■ roofing sheet

Plating requires:
■ bitumen tile

The heavy covers include:
■ ceramic tile
■ cement tile

The covers can also be made of wood or vegetable materials.
